Thursday's Class

Today in class students had 10 minutes to finish their Posters from yesterday.

We watched Freedom Writers for the remainder of class.

Tuesday and Wednesday Class

Yesterday and today we listened to chapters 4 and 5 of Samurai Shortstop.

Students had to complete ch 4 fill in the blanks activity on Tuesday, which we took up today.
We completed a worksheet on Figurative, and literal language and also Similes. Students had to make their own picture of a figurative saying. An example is, "She is the apple of my eye!" or "He had a crush on her." These were due today.

Students are currently working on posters of Japan's culture during the Edo Period. These are due tomorrow during class.

THERE IS NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY JANUARY 30 AS IT IS A PD DAY FOR STAFF.

Monday's Class

Today in class we listened to Chapter 3 of Samurai Shortstop by Alan Gratz and wrote chapter summaries for the first 3 chapters.
To finish off first period students evaluated their Japan maps according to the Rubric provided.

For second period today students worked on a fill in the blanks activity on Chapter 4- Edo Japan. This handout is due on Wednesday January 28.

Thursday's Class

Today in class we watched "Spirited Away". We will finish the movie tomorrow in class.

On Friday I will be handing out interim reports that I will be requesting parent signatures and have them returned by Tuesday January 20. Students also have their Isolated Island activities due on Monday January 19.

Wednesday's Update

We are currently working on the Isolated Island Activity and it will be due Monday January 19.
Monday January 19 is a regular scheduled school day and is not a Org day as listed previously.

Monday's Class

Welcome back everyone! I hope you are feeling refreshed after the break. I apologize for not keeping the blog up to date for December but I was recovering from eye surgery for most of the month and wasn't able to keep the blog up to date. Please check back regularly as I will be updating on a daily basis.

Today in class we started Chapter 4 b-thrild and also started the Japan title page. Both will be due on Monday of next week. There will be no more full classes assigned to work on this.
